Hello @first-name,
We did it! We survived the Fall Festival and now it's onto Thanksgiving!
Vote for your favorite holiday!
One Why
Parents Need Partners in Discipleship: Parents are their children's primary disciple-makers, but they don't have to do it alone. Creekside Kids comes alongside families with biblical teaching, encouragement, and resources. For October - we provided the Fall Festival and included a station where parents led their kids through the Gospel in a creative way.
One Win
We had over 200 people here for the Fall Festival! There were fun memories being made by the families as they picked their Cake Walk wins, won prizes for so many games, dropped their quarter in the gumball machine, bounced on the bouncy houses, had their faces painted, and walked through the Gospel station. This outreach event is an easy way to invite people to church and it was successful!
One Thing to Know
Maybe more than one thing, 😂.
- Sunday, November 8 - There will be some Thank You! gifts by the Kids Keurig / copier. Please be sure to swing by and pick up a small thank you!
- Sunday, November 22 - This is a Clipboard Sunday. For these Sundays, we only offer the Aurora room, Lupine Nursery, and Rainbow Preschool. Kids in Fireweed, Trees, and Mountains (K-5th grade) are to sit with their families in the main service. It will be a Respond Service (music and prayer service).
- Sunday, November 29 - This is a 5th Sunday. If you have the ability to serve in any of the classrooms (we will have all rooms open) - please let me or Erin know asap! The 5th Sunday doesn't really have regular volunteers scheduled for it.
One Reason
If you don't know, I love Christmas. I have fond memories of the service I attended, our family traditions, the snow, the music, and just the joy. Of course, the reason we celebrate Christmas - Jesus! Even though Jesus wasn't born in Israel on 12/25, I love that we can take time to celebrate His coming and the redemption He offers us. It's why I want Christmas to be special for kids at our church and the friends they bring.
Here are some opportunities to help make the joy (not magic) of Christmas happen.
- Anytime between now and December 3rd: Package up our extra diapers to be given out at Warm Up the Valley. We have been blessed with a lot of diapers and parents frequently bring their own diapers on Sundays, so we have plenty to share with others! If you can come in and package diapers (make sure they're clean, in a sealed bag, and labeled with brand and size), please let me know.
- Tuesday, November 17th from 4:30-7:30pm - I accidentally scheduled the Christmas video recording on my anniversary. Anyone want to hang out at the church, welcome families, and help keep kids rotating through the recording so I can spend my anniversary with my husband? I totally spaced, haha! I'll provide a pizza for you :) I will have everything prepped and can walk you through how it all works and I'll be covering the recording time before 4:30 and Jordan does the recording. Eli gave me 10 dork points for this scheduling haphazard 😂
- Monday, November 23rd from 9am-3pm - Christmas Decorating. Bring a snack to share and help decorate during any of that time! The Kids side needs love because this is not my gifting... at all!
- Saturday, December 5th - Warm Up the Valley! This is a church-wide, all hands on deck event that the church hosts to bless families with Christmas! There are a lot of roles and you can learn more through the registration. If you want to hang out with me for a few hours, please sign up for childcare! Childcare is only provided for volunteers' kids and right now I'm the only one registered for that spot. I would love company! I also totally get if you need to serve in a different role, but please consider serving in some capacity! It's a great time to worship through service with the folks we call our church home. https://creeksideak.churchcenter.com/registrations/signups/3720806
- Wednesday, 12/9 - opportunities during the day to help set up the Christmas Family Celebration and help run the Family Celebration from 5:30-7pm (more details to come). Set up will be around 1pm.
- Wednesday, 12/16 - help set up for the Family Christmas Movie event during the day or to make popcorn right before the event at 6ish (more details to come). We will need round tables set up, the walls moved back, activities printed and put out, and such. Set up will be around 1pm.
- Wednesday, 12/23 - help set up the Kids Chapel for the family friendly space for the Christmas Eve service. We need round tables set up, activities at every table, clipboards prepped for the service, and such. Set up will be around 1pm.
If any of these opportunities seem doable and you want to bless the Valley with a joyous and beautiful Christmas, please let me know via email, text, or in person!
One More
Ministry is better with friends! Who could you serve alongside?
Serving together is a great way to build friendships while making an eternal impact in the lives of kids. You don't have to do ministry alone! Think of a friend who might enjoy serving with you, reach out, and invite them to join the Creekside Kids team. Then follow up with them and help them take the next step. Sometimes all it takes is a personal invitation from a friend to say yes! I have gotten recommendations lately and when I reach out to them, they forget to fill out the application. Help them remember!
