Hello @first-name,

I want you to know I am praying over you! Not just that you will serve, but for you! For your heart, your relationships, your walk with the Lord. YOU! If you have a specific prayer request, please let me know and I will pray with you and for you!!

One Why

One reason we have Creekside Kids is to give kids a place to hear the Gospel and be surrounded by people who will know them, love them, and point them toward Jesus.

One Tidbit

Growing up, my siblings and I would play "The Gap Game" any time we went to the mall... like three times a year. Anywho, Gap is really good at having their staff interact with every person entering the store. So in this game, our goal was to get to the back wall of The Gap (or any mall store) with zero staff interactions.

Some kids step into this place - Creekside Kids - and subconsciously have the same goal. To get in and out with zero interactions. As volunteers, it's our role to make this a welcoming place thus making sure no kid wins this game. Every child should have positive interactions with an adult while they're here—and those interactions shouldn't just be about answering questions or completing the lesson.

We're here to teach the lesson, but we're also here to know the kids.

One Habit

The next Sunday that you serve, I encourage you to choose one child (new, a hard one for you, or one you interact with little) and make sure they don't win "The Gap Game" against you.

  • Use their name
  • Learn one thing about them
  • Encourage them

The goal isn't to have a long conversation. The goal is for that child to leave knowing, “Someone here noticed me.”

One Win

Last Sunday (August 16), 115 kids checked in across our two services! That's 115 kids who had an opportunity to hear the Gospel, learn about Jesus, and experience a church that welcomes them. Thank you for helping make that possible!

One of Us

Thank you for being "one of us." Erin has been working really diligently to make sure everyone has nametag - youth and adults. If not, absolutely let me know! You may also notice that we now have three (3) different colors of lanyards on Sunday mornings in Creekside Kids.

  • Purple-ish - Service Coach / Director / Problem Solver - grab this person whenever you have a question. This person can probably answer it. Even if they aren't serving as the problem solver, they have agreed to be available for any need at all. (So far, this includes Elisabeth, Courtney, Kayla, and Elise).
  • Bright Green - Youth volunteer - they do not have the same responsibilities as an adult and that's outlined on the back of their nametags.
  • Orange - Adult volunteers

(PS - If you see someone you don't know wearing a nametag - introduce yourself! Let's make this a welcoming place to serve!)

One Resource

Services / Planning Center isn't just where you see your schedule—it can also help you find opportunities to serve.

August 30th is a Clipboard Sunday - meaning there is no set team, it's people volunteering for an extra shift, and it's only the Check In Desk Host, Little Lupine Nursery, Rainbow Preschool, and Aurora Room (no Kinder-5th grade classrooms).

On August 30, if you're willing to serve where you normally do, go ahead and sign up in Planning Center. If you'd like to serve somewhere different, let me know and I'll help you find a spot.

One More

We often feel more connected when we're part of a group, participate in church activities, and serve together.

Who is one person you know who could find their place in Creekside Kids?

Invite them to peek in and see what we do on a Sunday morning!
