Lesson Recap

Yesterday, the kids learned more about Moses! We sang Pharaoh Pharaoh and discussed how, in the Bible, they would sing songs of the things that God had done for them. Our song may have been a bit sillier than those in the Old Testament, but a fun way to remember how God took care of the Israelites. Now, our lesson covered the parting of the Red Sea and the Ten Commandments (and all the things the kids could remember of Moses). Next week, we are moving onto Joshua! While we are clipping along on Sunday mornings, take time to deep dive in your study at home with the kids!

Memory Verse: “But Moses said to the people, ‘Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and see the Lord’s salvation.’” -Exodus 14:13a

Disciple Making Moment

Someone asked me once why we memorize Scripture when we have the Bible in print and as an app. We memorize Scripture for a few reasons. John Piper shares some of his favorite reasons here. One is to combat sin and Satan (Psalm 119:11 "I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you"). Another is so we can remember God's promises to us - as He said them. Very early on, Satan learned he could twist just a few words to trip us all up. By memorizing God's word, as it is written, we are learning what God truly wants us to recall and trust.

For kids - they tend to have an easier time memorizing - so this is the time to encourage memorizing. Most of the verses that I know the best come from my childhood memorization time. We are in the process of designing a memorization system for kids. John 3:16, the Ten Commandments, Roman Road are included... What would you add? And we have our memory verse for every single Sunday too! Learn with your kids!

Behind the Scenes

Yesterday, Creekside Kids joined Creekside Youth for ice skating and it was a BLAST!! We saw about 75 people on the ice and learned who has skated before and who has not. There were definitely surprises there! Thanks for joining us yesterday! If you missed it, we will definitely do this again next year.
