Hello @first-name,

Listen to Elisabeth Read the Email

Last week my intro talked about VBS coming quickly... It isn't. Don't worry. It's not until early June. We still have the Fall Festival, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine's Day, Spring Break, Easter, and the end of school year before VBS comes back! However, I am in the planning stages of VBS...

How are you? Are you ready for this fall season and all the joy it brings with it?

Family Ice Skating Night

Sep 20, 6:15pm

Meet at Brett Memorial Ice Arena (In the Wasilla Middle School Parking Lot) at 6:00. Bring the whole family (it's free). We've got the ice all to ourselves for an hour! Ice skates are available for those without their own pair. Youth can be dropped off, but kids (up through 5th grade) must have an adult remain on the premises.

This is a great way to spend time with friends and family and to get to know others who attend our church. This is also a great time to invite friends!

Spotlight: No Kids Connect

No Kids Connect this week or next week. We will see you again on Wednesday, September 30th. (Why do we add the two week breaks? To accommodate our volunteer availability, allow for additional events such as Explore Baptism, and give our families a chance to breathe each month).

Lesson Recap

πŸ“ Sunday Lesson - Moses - From childhood through the Ten Plagues

πŸ“– Memory Verse - β€œGod replied to Moses, β€˜I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.’” -Exodus 3:14 (We are okay with the first half, "God replied to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM.'").

🎬 Watch The Prince of Egypt

Want to watch a movie together? The Prince of Egypt is an animated movie about Moses and the Exodus. It is not a completely biblical retelling; some details, characters, and events are different from the Bible. We recommend watching it together as a family and using it as an opportunity to talk about what the movie gets right, what it changes, and what the Bible actually says.

Remember: the Bible is our source of truthβ€”not the movie!

πŸ“– Read Exodus 1–14 together and see how the movie compares to God's Word.

Kids Connect Wednesday Lesson - We talked about spiritual warfare. God is real and so is Satan, but they do not have the same abilities (Satan is created; he is not all powerful or all knowing. God is all powerful and all knowing and present everywhere). We can spend time with God, memorize Scripture, and don the armor of God to fight off Satan.

Disciple Making Moment

The Prince of Egypt discussion above? Make that a regular conversation in your house. As disciple makers, regularly ask:

β€œWhat does God's Word say about this?” Movies, books, music, social media, and even things we hear from other people can all communicate ideas about God, people, right and wrong, and how the world works. We don't have to avoid everything that isn't explicitly biblicalβ€”but we do want to help our kids learn to recognize what they're hearing and compare it with the truth of God's Word.

As your kids grow, teach them to ask:

What does this say?
Is it true?
What does the Bible say about it?

Our goal isn't just to tell our kids what to think. We want to teach them how to think biblically. Regular biblical conversations encourage them to look at God's Word for themselves and apply it - like a disciple in action!

Behind the Scenes

Last year, we had over 215 people at the Creekside Kids Fall Festivalβ€”including kids, parents, and volunteers! It is an amazing event that is both fun and provides families with a safe place to make memories together.

This year, we're looking for a Games Team Lead to help make the fun happen! This person would help us choose and organize the games, think through supplies and setup, and help recruit a few people to serve alongside them.

You don't have to do it all yourselfβ€”we just need someone willing to take the lead and help plan the games.

If you're organized, creative, or just love seeing kids have fun, we'd love to have you join the team! This is a one-time serving opportunity that will take just a few hours of your time throughout September and October. Reply to this email if you're interested in leading the games.
